Hi, I’m Elena

I’ve been writing stories for a long time, first for myself, then eventually for other people. I’ve posted on a few platforms over the years. What changed everything was actually getting a response, people caring about my characters as much as I did, messaging me wanting to know what happened next, and pushing me to keep going. That response is the entire reason I write under the name Elena Crosley today, everywhere, including the stories still up on Inkitt.

Every book I write ends up being about broken things worth mending, and that’s not just a tagline, it’s more or less my life. I was diagnosed with ADHD in my thirties, which meant spending a long time thinking something was wrong with me before I understood my brain just runs differently.

I’ve also come to suspect autism is part of the picture too, even without an official diagnosis to go with it. My characters tend to carry that same weight: a veteran rebuilding himself after PTSD, a woman with ADHD trying to outrun a past that keeps catching up to her, a detective who’s gone numb to survive his job. I don’t write damage for shock value. I write it because I know what it costs to carry it, and I care more about the mending part than the breaking part.

Outside of writing, I’m usually on a horse, which has been the closest thing I’ve had to therapy for most of my life, or getting bossed around by my German Shorthair Pointer, Gustave, who has strong opinions about when writing time is over. Before books, I worked as a saddler, making leather bags, belts, and notebooks by hand. I didn’t expect that to matter to my writing, but it turns out building something with your hands and building a fictional world scratch the same itch: you start with raw material and you don’t stop until it holds together.
